Welcome! With so many different forms of media through which to share my Alaskan adventure (text, facebook, e-mail, etc), I decided to compile everything into a blog that you - whomever you may be - can visit (or not) whenever you want. :)
Superbowl Sunday: While the Packers were preparing for their big win, my flight arrived from Seattle-Tacoma Airport to Anchorage AK at approximately 11AM Alaskan time (which is on a different time-zone from any other U.S. state, except perhaps Hawaii).
I am here for an unknown amount of time (hopefully until June, as I am registered to run Mayor's Marathon June 18th). As of now [then] I do not know where I will live, or what type of car I will drive; what the outside temperature will be, or how many moose and polar bear I will see...
I am Christine McCandless! ;)
Stay Tuned!
I promised an explanation of why I am here:
ReplyDeleteBriefly, I took a micromanagement position last July with ScribeAmerica (http://www.scribeamerica.com), helping to hire, train, and run new scribe programs in hospital emergency departments.
A scribe works one-on-one with a physician in the emergency department, and helps put together the patient's chart and medical record for the physician. The physician is thus able to spend more time with the patient (and less time charting), and can see more patients per shift, reducing ER waiting times. The scribe is able to gain valuable clinical experience that will help prepare them for medical school.
My first project was at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville IL (July 5-October 26)
My second project was at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke VA (October 27-February 5)
My third project is here in Anchorage Alaska at Providence Medical Center (February 6-??? June I hope)!!!
BRRRRRRRRRRRR! I will for sure be tuning in!
